Almost 2 Pages Per Stanza

Fri Feb 13, 2004, 4:49 AM
So here's the thing... I'm in English 433, Literary Criticism. For my first critical essay, I select Robert Frost's " The Road Not Taken" as the text that I am going to look at. For those of you who might be unfamiliar (though most people have read this one) the poem is 4 stanzas of 5 lines each.

And how long of a paper did I write on it? 7 pages typed in about 3 hours time. I essentialy wrote 1 and 3/4 pages for each stanza of the poem. It was ridiculous. But fun, to be honest. I have an interesting new perspective on the poem.

Heres to the man that you never saw
To the ripped off friend that you never had
Heres to the lies that you told
To the crack face, bullshit imbecile
Heres to the friends that you never had
To the childhood chums that wrote you off
Heres to the shit that you took
For everything and everyone who failed you

many thanks, many thanks.
it's a great feeling, to get praise for something i can only look at, shrug, and realize that it's just a thought that crossed my mind, except i made it rhyme (with careful re-reading and other filtering details of the like).
again, thank you.

You're very deep, aren't you? Although it's a little hard to tell whether you actually are that deep or if you're trying to make it sound like that. Either way I like your stuff... It's real good, I'm gonna +devwatch you.

Well, I try to avoid being superficial. Some would say that I succeed, others would disagree. I guess it is up to the individual. I recognize my sincerity, so that is what really matters. Art is the practice of showing others how honest you are to yourself. When it is bad art, it is, more often than not, because the person doesn't want to think about how he/she actually feels.

Thats cool, I dunno sorry... I'm insane right now....
